Ok, I have ran into a problem, I was have a genuine Server 2008 r2 code, but after I am finished sorting everything out and have it setup the way I want it, I look at the system properties and Windows ID and Product ID are both saying unavailable and the genuine Icon is gone. Any help will me greatly appreciated.

Found this very interesting, Used to use Server 2008 as a workstation on my old quad core PC. Using a laptop now, and have tried installing Server 2008r2 and having a few problems. Going to try and again and only put on what I think I need. The Geniuine activation pic had disappeared and somethings weren't workig right.

The main problem I have is with Zune not wanting to install on Server OS, which I found a work around for, then there was a problem with updating phone software which I found a workaround the only problem left now, is due to these two workarounds you cannot update Zune software itself.

Hey again.I´m thinking to install Win server 2008 R2 so i wanted to know is my hardware capable of? Here are my specs:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P31-ES3G http://www.gigabyte.com/products/product-page.aspx?pid=2892#sp

Processor: Intel Pentium 4 E6300 http://ark.intel.com/products/41493/Intel-Pentium-Processor-E6300-(2M-Cache-2_80-GHz-1066-MHz-FSB)

GPU: ASUS HD RADEON 4650 http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AMD_Series/EAH4650DI1GD2/#specifications

I know it`s not a dream machine but I run some serious games on it, like CRYSIS 2, DiRT 2 and some more. Right now I`m on XP Pro SP3.

Arris: Looks sufficient. If you are still not sure, you can also install it beside your current Windows XP SP3 using this page in the manual to test it first. :)

Hey is this on VM? because I installed server 2008 r2 enterprise on a Virtual Machine and I cant get aero, aero worked on windows 7 ultimate.

Arris: In contrast to most (if not all) screenshots in the manual, these screenshots were made on a physical machine. Aero in a virtual machine should work fine at least with the latest version of VMWare with the VMWare additions installed.

Really excited seeing this. Will it work just as well with

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise? Is this article still current?

I build websites, using software such as coldfusion builder, homesite, dreamweaver, photoshop etc.

It’s come time to reinstall my OS.

Rather than running a local web server, application servers, db etc on windows 7 ultimate, should I instead install Windows server 2008 R2?

If I did use Windows server 2008 R2 would I still be able to run all of my other software; office 2010, all the browsers, skype, msn, itunes, carbonite?

Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise? Or should I go with Windows 7 Ultimate?

What are the pro and cons?

Arris: This manual works with all editions and of Windows Server 2008 R2 [SP0 & SP1] including the Foundation edition. I expect all software you mention will run fine on Server 2008 R2. Just to be sure you can search the forum and see if any people have problems installing/using it. There are several topics (see this search) about the pros and cons at the forum. Personally, I use it to learn more about the Windows Server operating system and its features. Enjoy the manual and let us hear via the forum if you have any questions; we 'll be glad to help! :)

Hello. I love it. I noticed though when I log into the machine remotely that I do not have aero. Do you know how to enable aero in remote sessions? In Windows 7 this is enabled by default or it just works. Thanks.

Arris: I think we have the same problem as in the Non-R2 Windows Server 2008. See this topic at the forum for more information. This issue has been added to the Windows Server 2008 R2 Wish List.
